As young practitioners, we are still discovering new and different answers to that question as we develop our professional identities. And we think this kind of discovery is enriched when shared with others.

In that spirit, we launched beyondwords in 2008 as an online space for professional writers to share, learn, and explore what it means to be a part of the professional writing community.

beyondwords is about engaging with the visual as well as the verbal, defining writing as a social action, and extending a hand of experience to those just entering the field. We share our experiences and knowledge as we translate our education into real-world application. We also share resources, tips, and tutorials as we continue to develop our skills. Most importantly, it’s not just about us — it’s about the community. So you’ll hear other professional writers sharing their experiences as well.
